Dropox for iPhone

Next to Evernote, Dropbox is one of my favorite web-based, cross platform tools. Now that they have added an iPhone app this productivity tool has gotten even better. Now in addition to accessing my files from my Windows, Linux, or OSX I can access my files on go on my iPhone.

Syncing apps and a password database like Keepass or KeepassX has not gotten even more powerful. Thanks Dropbox!

Facebook: The New Classroom Commons? – The Chronicle Review – The Chronicle of Higher Education via kwout

It is very unfortunate that Harriet L. Schwartz’s, assistant professor of professional leadership at Carlow University, post in the Chronicle of Higher Education is only accessible through a paid subscription because she makes a very well reasoned argument for using facebook in the learning environment. Its where your learners are–and most everyone else.

When my 60 something sister, my wifes 70 something parents and all just about everyone else I know is “friending” me in Facebook I guess I too will have to move from being a passive intermittent user of Facebook and meeting my social network where they are at.

Courier: First Details of Microsoft’s Secret Tablet – Microsoft courier tablet – Gizmodo via kwout

To be fair to Microsoft this is much more than just a tablet. There are some exceptional features and some questionable ones. Regardless, when you combine this anouncement with the other recent announcements from ASUS, Toshiba, Sony and Amazon there is no doubt that we are on the cusp of the “Next Big Thing”.
