by leapin.levi on Sep.25, 2009, under Life in Abilene
Caleb has been talking and talking about this new airsoft weapon he wants to get. It’s called a G&G UMP Or UMG. Now Aaryn you will have four guns to choose from.
My old Harapnuik M190 (I call it Harapnuik because I’ve had to fix it so many times. It’s really HFC)
Dads Echo 1 G36K
Caleb’s G&G UMG
Caleb’s G&G MP5
Maybe three because I might need my pistol if I’m only using my Sniper. Or maybe you could use my sniper but Caleb and Dad can’t even move the bolt its such a strong spring. Ha Ha

Colder than Canada
by leapin.levi on Sep.22, 2009, under Airsoft, The Cold
Wow It is 10:00 in the morning and it is 15. COLD!!! The funny thing is that the swimming pool is open. It is 10 in Lethbridge but it is 9:00 in the morning. I’m going to put in a new Category called “The Cold”
While I’m here, I’ll tell you guys about Airsoft last Sunday. After getting my new sniper rifle, I sold dad my G36. He could of played last week but… It was raining. Caleb didn’t even play. In Canada we played in the snow!! They don’t even play in a little bit of Texas rain. There getting scared of cold whether. This week dad played. The first game my team got whipped. We only shot one of there team and they got us all. The second game they won also. But the last game I think we won. I would have shot dad but my scope got messed up and it shot way off to the right. We have to re sight it again. I think Caleb or mom might have bumped it or something. Another guy and I were on hiding behind a building. (he was on top of it) Dad and Steve were coming closer and he saw me but was to far to shoot me. But I could shoot him. I shot and he ran up to a tree and I shot again and just missed his head. I was behind a tree also but then Steve came behind me and shot me. The guy that was on the roof shot dad but Steve got him also. Hopefully we can get the scope sighted in again. For the THIRD TIME!!!
Oh look it is 16 now.
Have to go play in the new warm whether.

Again… these americans don’t know what Iced Tea is. They think iced tea is just cold tea. No lemon, no sugar, no nuthen. Dad’s free pop machine at work has the good kind, but all they have it diet (yuck). It tastes so weird and has a bad after taste.
I NEED REAL ICED TEEEEEAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
Or I have to put up with diet… WHICH I WILL NOT!!!

oh… the powdered stuff would be the best
Football
by marilyn on Sep.20, 2009, under Learning
Dwayne hired a grad student to help him with his research. She was raised in the Ukraine and has lived in Abilene for two years. People here, when they introduce themselves, almost always give their last name. When we say ours, there’s a bit of confusion. Hmmm, nothing too simple, so we often have to repeat it, or spell it, or spend a few minutes telling of it’s origin. It’s kinda fun. When I met her, I figured she’d have similar experiences.
Last night we went to our first ACU football game and she (L) sat behind us and introduced us to her friend (D). We chat a bit then went back to the game. I’m not much into football, though I did learn about “the point after” being the field goal. All this time I thought it was the name of a sports bar in Edmonton where Wes Montgomery would broadcast after games on 630 CHED. I had no idea it was named after a sports reference. The light went on. Duh, things that you learn after 30 years. Dwayne just laughed.
Back to our Ukrainian friend. Honestly, I wasn’t intending on listening to their conversation, but it was more entertaining that the game. Dillon was explaining that going to a matinee was cheaper that a regular movie. L-”What’s a matinee?” D-”It’s a movie that is shown earlier in the day”. L-”Why is it called a matinee?”D-”I don’t know, it’s a French word”. L-”In French, it’s pronounced, “(and she said it beautifully with a French accent)” D-”Well, America is the melting pot of all cultures, so we use some French words. We just say them in American”.
Who’s educating who?
Oh, ACU won, by the way. I’d put up some videos, but I’m a bit inept in that department. Levi or Caleb haven’t taught me yet.
Things I’ve Never Heard Before
by marilyn on Sep.20, 2009, under Church
Ah, Texan Baptists, they have such character. We went to a Sunday School class this morning and were so encouraged by the rock solid teaching on the inerrancy of scripture. The teacher was talking about if you believe Paul was wrong about one thing, then you can’t say he’s right about something else cause “that dog can’t hunt”. I think I need to know more about the hunting world before I can figure that out.
We went to the main service and were able to sing some HYMNS! Wow, what a concept. Cool that they had the wa,wa of the electric guitar and boom, boom of the drums, and it’s amazing at how the words to “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Redeemed” seem new when put to “long-haired-hippy-bang-bang-music”
Once again, I’m listening to what was written in praise. Then there were the two black girls about 8 or 9 standing next to us just dancing up a storm. That’s when I know white lady can’t dance when I watch them live out the joy of praise. Even their clapping has more rhythm. The family surrounding them had visitors from Africa with them and one lady (not speaking English), had a hymnal in her language and the girls helped her find the number of the song and she sang along in her language.
What a “full of joy” experience.
