Scattered Thoughts

I attended a play tonight at ACU with a mom I met through our boys hanging out at Apple Camp. It was a great play; full of laughs and provoking thought. Before the performance began, I noticed a table of small blankets at the foot of the stage. The mom I was with went up and brought one back. You guessed it, for when it gets too cold in the theatre. 10 minutes later the table was empty. People dress for outside end up shivering inside. Like I said, this place is upside down.

The play was great; live big and bold, and never settle for being a “mere” anything. Stake your place as an “enemy of the mere”.

I saw my first cockroach today, but it doesn’t count cause it was dead. I still need to see a live one before I can get over “the first”. Dwayne saw a rat today, too, but I walked in right behind him, so I didn’t. I still have that “first” to face, too. Oh, I should mention that both of these were while we were looking at houses. You guessed it. Not interested (that wasn’t the only reason).

We are developing our list of things wanted in a home and it keeps changing. Today we discovered that there’s a certain boundary around Abilene that you step out of and there’s no high speed internet access, so you know how that went down in our discussion. Now, instead of searching the country, we are limited to a certain area. It makes it somewhat easier, but it mean we need to start again. Not start over, but start again.

So that’s the most of our day. How was yours?

  1. Upside down and critters to boot!! Hey – your on the same continent not Africa. now that would be an adjustment.
Funny the things that are ‘deal breakers’ these days huh?

  2. It wasn’t the only deal breaker, but makes me realize what a pansy I’ve become. I stop and look at cool bugs (the stick bugs are my favorite), but the thought of the roach and the rat are where my skin does a funny dance. Snakes, spiders, no prob, but the roaches and rats move so fast. I know once I’ve seen a live one, it’ll be better. It’s the anticipation…

  3. A friend of mine in Abbotsford had roaches and I wasn’t grossed out by it for some reason. I don’t like darting creatures and I consider snakes as darting cause they can move fast too. I like mice but not rats and have always had a yuck attitude towards spiders except daddy long legs. Dave had a good laugh at me the other night because when I took Chrissy out I let in a moth and one of those huge mosquito looking flying things. I was shutting the door after coming back in and Dave said “It’s behind you!”. I stayed still while looking for it, but then stepped back and it was on the floor and I stepped on it. Yeah, I did the girly scream and dance and Dave was busting his gut. My tolerance is getting smaller all the time. I’ve taken to gagging at times but making just the sound of a gag is a release of my ickiness.

That’s my story for the day.
