It always amazes me how you long it takes for the snow to melt up in the mountains. Opening day for the Downhill Mountain biking season at Silverstar Mountain in Vernon BC is June 29 this year and like previous years we still have snow at the top. This makes for some muddy biking but it is still great to be out hitting the trails when not too many people are around.

While Caleb and I are biking Levi is working on his final English paper which is due June 30th. Note the sling on Levi’s right arm… broke his colar bone about 11 days ago while jumping off the cliff on Ada Boulevard. See the video below to see how he ended up this way and if you want to see a video of him making the jump, write up about his first broken bone and a picture of his current state check out the post First real broken bone on Levi’s blog.

The Google tablet has finally arrived and it is a 7 inch device running Android Jelly Bean 4.1. At $199 US it hits a price point well below Apple’s iPad, but will a 7 inch device be able to really compete with the 10 inch iPad? Time will tell. Google also announced the Nexus Q which is media device that you connect to your TV–Google TV? Perhaps the most exciting announcement was Google Glass which is a glasses based video and audio recording system that allows you to record what you see.

Google announced many more products and services which should challenge Apple to up their game. A Google vs Apple world is nothing anyone imagined 10 or perhaps even 5 years ago. Once Google gets their Motorola purchase sorted out we should really start to see the competition heat up. Healthy competition between Google and Apple means we all win.

Matt Day a Graduate of Concordia University created this excellent video and offers the following thoughts:

Just having a little fun with the way we kid-glove kids in school. The song was inspired by a chat with my musical humor duo partner, Gord Graber, after he read the recent story of a teacher who got suspended for giving a 0 to a student who did not hand in an assignment. I know there are other factors involved, but don’t you get a little frustrated with our over-sensitivity? I mean honestly, kids play the most violent video games in history, they experience all kinds of things in movies, TV and music – and we worry about the detriments of competition. Really?
