You have to at least give Microsoft the credit of recognizing a market leader and providing a migration path to WordPress but you also have to feel some sympathy for the millions of Lives Spaces Blog users who have to move.

Good to know that ACU Blogs runs on WordPress which continues to set itself apart as the dominant blogging platform.

It only took 10 months after its release on the Android but Google Goggles the visual search application is now available for the iPhone.

It will be interesting to see just how this will impact those institutions who are currently second life.

Apple PEEL

I first learned about the Apple PEEL, which converts an iPod to a fully functional iPhone that sends text messages and makes phone calls for free, through Tony Sagami of Uncommon Wisdom. Sagami encourages a sell or profit taking on Apple stocks because the Apple PEEL is selling “like hotcakes” in China, will soon be available in the US and could potentially have an significant impact on Apples iPhone sales. The device sells for just under $80 dollars and does require the jailbreaking of the iPod but that is not an big issue for those who are motivated to save hundreds of dollars and have the freedom of not dealing with AT&T for a data plan

According to Bloomberg, Engaget, CNET and several other reputable sources it looks like this could be a genuine option to committing to a multi year contract and excessive dataplan rates. We should see Apple response to this device very soon and time will tell if this will play out as it did for Psystar the clone maker that Apple was able to sue into submission.

BlackBerry PlayBook

RIM is heralding their BlackBerry PlayBook as a true competitor to the iPad. Time will tell. While the device is slightly smaller than the iPad it does pack significantly more power and flexibility with a dual core processor and 1 GB of RAM and output connectivity options. The device appears to have great potential but isn’t due to early 2011–by this time Apple will more than likely have an upgrade to the iPad so it is unlikely that this will be an iPad killer.
